Dr. Craig Miller - Veterinarian, Owner of Loyal Companion Animal Care Clinic
I am Dr. Craig Miller, the owner of Loyal Companion Animal Care. I would like to take this opportunity to share my background and my vision of the hospital with you.
I knew I wanted to be a veterinarian when I was eight years old. Growing up in rural central Illinois, I had numerous domestic and wild animals as pets, including fish, snakes, turtles, rodents, rabbits, dogs, and cats. All of them were my loyal companions with wonderful bonds. To help me realize my goal, I volunteered at my local vet clinic when I was thirteen. From that point on, I have never stopped working with animals – the passion of my life.
Having received my Bachelor's in Biology with Honors at Knox College in Galesburg, IL, I attended the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and received my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with Honors in 2001.
Always impressed by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, our family moved to Redmond in December 2004. Ten years later, our family got much bigger with the addition of our son Konnor and our daughter Zelina. Together, we love exploring the natural beauty of this region.
Pets play an important role in our lives. They are our family and best friends. Loyal Companion Animal Care opened on January 6th 2008, and our team is dedicated to improve the health and quality of life of every animal we touch. We look forward to meeting you and getting to know you and your loyal companions in the near future and for many years to come.
Dr. Kirstin Madden - Veterinarian
Hello! My name is Dr. Kirstin Madden, and I am excited to be a part of the team at Loyal Companion Animal Care. For a long as I can remember, I have loved learning about animals, science, and medicine, so being a veterinarian was an obvious choice for a career. Originally from the Midwest, I graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa with a bachelor's degree in biology, then attended veterinary school at Iowa State University. After graduating in 2001, I practiced for fourteen years at a small animal hospital in the Coeur d'Alene area of northern Idaho. When my husband and I decided we would like a new place to call home, the Seattle area immediately came to mind--it has always been one of our favorite places to visit. In my spare time, I enjoy running, biking, dog agility, and all kinds of movies and music. Currently, we share our home with five dogs and three cats, so I understand how important our pets are. I promise to offer the best care I can to your furry family members. My favorite part of being a veterinarian is getting to know people and their pets, and I look forward to meeting you!
Mireia Brunet - Hospital Manager
My name’s Mireia and I am originally from a small town near Barcelona, Catalunya. Growing up I always loved animals but life often moves in mysterious ways and my initial career choice was a very different one; so I moved to Boston and graduated with a degree in Electronic Engineering. After graduating I moved to Colorado, where I realized that my true passion laid in working with animals and I embarked in a new journey to pursue that goal. After ten years working in both general practice and specialty and emergency hospitals in Colorado, I decided to move closer to family, and this is how I found myself in the Great Pacific Northwest.
After briefly joining a large specialty and emergency center near my residence, I was elated to find Loyal Companion Animal Care. I was brought on board to join an amazingly caring, dedicated, compassionate, skilled group of professionals whom I hope you all know and love by now.
Throughout my career, I have always relished the connections I have made with both humans and their faithful companions, be it dogs, cats, birds, small mammals or reptiles, they all hold a special place in my heart. I look forward to getting to know both you and your furry kids and help enhance the bond you share in any way I can.
Jennifer Ewart - Lead Receptionist
I was born in Iowa, but moved Washington at age 9. I grew up in Mukilteo and attended Edmonds community college and graduated from University of Washington, Bothell. I am very happy to call the Pacific Northwest home! I share my home with my husband, our 2 rescue cats and a chihuahua I took home to “foster” about 9 years ago! I joined the veterinary field in 2000 and never looked back! I have been a receptionist, assistant, staff supervisor and also worked at a Specialty clinic for 7 years. In my spare time I enjoy running and participating in the occasional half marathon. I love boating and golfing in the summer, skiing in the winter and cheering on all our Seattle sports teams! I am very excited to be a part of the Loyal Companion team! The best part of working in the veterinary field is not only getting to bond with the patients but getting to know the owners as well!
Angie Berning - Receptionist
My name is Angie. I grew up in southern California and moved up to Washington in the summer of 2014. I have a Siberian Husky named Brody that I absolutely adore. On my free time I enjoy hiking, being outdoors, and watching movies. I have always had a love for animals big and small and had quite the variety of animals growing up. I grew up riding Morgan horses and going to horse shows within the country. I had always known I wanted to work with animals since I was a little girl and am now happy to be a part of the Loyal Companion team.
Tessina Davidson - Licensed Veterinary Technician
I was born in Juneau, Alaska and moved to the Kirkland area in 2010. I have always loved animals and spent my life traveling. I volunteered at various facilities including Inti Wara Yasi in South America with monkeys and the Cheetah Conservation Fund in Africa. I joined the veterinary field in 2007 and became licensed with the state of Washington in 2012. I’m excited to be a part of the Loyal Companion Animal Hospital team. I’m often in the mountains on a river or on the ocean in a fishing boat, but I spend most of my time doing home and landscape remodel with my fiancé and our four cats.
Brianna Cady - Veterinarian Assistant
My name is Brianna. I grew up in Edmonds with at least 2 dogs and multiple cats at a time. Growing up with animals made it easy for me to choose a career working with animals. I knew I wanted you have a career in the veterinary field ever since I was a young girl. Right after I graduated high school from Edmonds Woodway high school I got my certificate in dog training and soon after decided I wanted to continue with working with animals. I am currently attending the San Juan College Veterinary Technology distance learning program to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. I have worked at 2 doggy day cares, a pet store, one other Veterinary Hospital and now I am happy to be part of the Loyal Companion Animal Care team as a Veterinary Assistant. I spend most of my spare time exploring with my dog, Kali, studying for my degree in veterinary technology, and spending time with my family and boyfriend. I look forward to meeting all of you and caring for you fur babies.
Danielle Gascoigne - Veterinarian Assistant
I am a small town girl who recently moved to the city to try something different. I grew up north in the San Juan Islands and Skagit Valley most of my life. I was surrounded with farm animals and lots of nature. I always knew any type of work involving animals was my passion. After graduating high school I went to school to become a Veterinary Assistant. After graduating I worked at a hospital up north for almost three years. I worked with dogs, cats, rodents, reptiles, and occasional farm animals. Leaving was hard, but after joining the Loyal Companion family I feel right back at home. In my spare time I love hiking, and camping around the Pacific Northwest with my dog Noonik, traveling, going to concerts and reading. I'm looking forward to meeting and working with you and your furry companions.
