Dr. Craig Miller - Veterinarian, Owner of Loyal Companion Animal Care Clinic

I am Dr. Craig Miller, the owner of Loyal Companion Animal Care. I would like to take this opportunity to share my background and my vision of the hospital with you.

I knew I wanted to be a veterinarian when I was eight years old. Growing up in rural central Illinois, I had numerous domestic and wild animals as pets, including fish, snakes, turtles, rodents, rabbits, dogs, and cats. All of them were my loyal companions with wonderful bonds. To help me realize my goal, I volunteered at my local vet clinic when I was thirteen. From that point on, I have never stopped working with animals – the passion of my life.

Having received my Bachelor's in Biology with Honors at Knox College in Galesburg, IL, I attended the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and received my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with Honors in 2001.

Always impressed by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, our family moved to Redmond in December 2004. Years later, our family got much bigger with the addition of our son Konnor and our daughter Zelina.  Together, we love exploring the natural beauty of this region.

Pets play an important role in our lives. They are our family and best friends. Loyal Companion Animal Care opened on January 6th 2008, and our team is dedicated to improve the health and quality of life of every animal we touch. We look forward to meeting you and getting to know you and your loyal companions in the near future and for many years to come.

Dr. Kirstin Madden - Veterinarian

Hello! My name is Dr. Kirstin Madden, and I am excited to be a part of the team at Loyal Companion Animal Care. For a long as I can remember, I have loved learning about animals, science, and medicine, so being a veterinarian was an obvious choice for a career. Originally from the Midwest, I graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa with a bachelor's degree in biology, then attended veterinary school at Iowa State University. After graduating in 2001, I practiced for fourteen years at a small animal hospital in the Coeur d'Alene area of northern Idaho. When my husband and I decided we would like a new place to call home, the Seattle area immediately came to mind--it has always been one of our favorite places to visit.  In my spare time, I enjoy running, biking, dog agility, and all kinds of movies and music. Currently, we share our home with five dogs and three cats, so I understand how important our pets are. I promise to offer the best care I can to your furry family members. My favorite part of being a veterinarian is getting to know people and their pets, and I look forward to meeting you!

Dr. Matthew J. Slentz - Veterinarian

My name is Dr. Matt Slentz. I grew up on a farm in the Midwest surrounded by many animals. After graduating summa cum laude from Valparaiso University with degrees in biology and psychology I attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. Following my graduation in 2015 I worked in a mixed animal practice in Wisconsin for one year before moving to Austin, Texas where I practiced for 6 years in small animal medicine. I have a diverse range of veterinary interests including; orthopedic and internal medicine, surgery, behavior, dermatology, and preventative care, but my favorite part of practice is getting to know and serve my clients.

My family is relocating to the Redmond area for my wife’s career and I am very excited to start working at Loyal Companion Animal Care. My wife and I have two children; Rob and Olivia, and a cat named Ozzie. In my free time I enjoy gardening, reading, cycling, and hiking and cannot wait to explore the Seattle/Redmond area with my family.

Leadership Team

Jennifer - Hospital Manager

I was born in Iowa, but moved to Washington at age 9. I grew up in Mukilteo and attended Edmonds community college and graduated from University of Washington, Bothell. I am very happy to call the Pacific Northwest home! I share my home with my husband, our 2 rescue cats and a chihuahua I took home to “foster” about 9 years ago! I joined the veterinary field in 2000 and never looked back! I have been a receptionist, assistant, staff supervisor and also worked at a Specialty clinic for 7 years. In my spare time I enjoy running and participating in the occasional half marathon. I love boating and golfing in the summer, skiing in the winter and cheering on all our Seattle sports teams! I am very excited to be a part of the Loyal Companion team! The best part of working in the veterinary field is not only getting to bond with the patients but getting to know the owners as well!

Brianna - Lead Veterinary Assistant

My name is Brianna. I grew up in Edmonds with at least 2 dogs and multiple cats at a time. Growing up with animals made it easy for me to choose a career working with animals. I knew I wanted to have a career in the veterinary field ever since I was a young girl. Right after I graduated high school from Edmonds Woodway high school I got my certificate in dog training and soon after decided I wanted to continue working with animals. I am currently attending the San Juan College Veterinary Technology distance learning program to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. I have worked at 2 doggy day cares, a pet store, one other Veterinary Hospital and now I am happy to be part of the Loyal Companion Animal Care team as a Veterinary Assistant. I spend most of my spare time exploring with my dog, Kali, studying for my degree in veterinary technology, and spending time with my family and fiancé. I look forward to meeting all of you and caring for you fur babies.
